Tyre fitting service

The tread on your tyres can affect the performance of your vehicle, and when the tread is worn down it can become dangerous – especially in wet weather. We can fit new tyres on your vehicle while you wait to ensure you are always safe on the roads.

Which tyres do I need?

Here at MOT City we can help you to choose the right size and make of tyres for your needs. We will consider your budget and provide you with sensible options from leading manufacturers so that you get the tyres that are right for you. We can arrange for proper disposal of your worn out tyres too.

I've used MOT City for several years now. The service is always excellent and the work is thorough and professional.

How long do tyres last?

As a general rule you will get several years of use from a new tyre. Of course, this can vary depending on how much you drive and the environment. As well as this, things like debris in the road can damage your tyres. Keep an eye on your tyres for any unusual looking bulges or protrustions as these can be caused by uneven wear.

How do I know if my tyres are legal?

New tyres usually have around 8mm of tread. The law states that the tread of a tyre must be at least 1.6mm across the central three-quarters of the tread, in a continuous band around the tyre. This can be hard to judge just by looking so it’s better to get the experts to check for you if you are in any doubt.

What do I need to bring with me to get new tyres fitted?

If you have locking wheel nuts on your vehicle, you will need to bring the key with you to get new tyres fitted. The locking wheel nut key can usually be found  in the glove box, or it is sometimes underneath the boot liner with the spare tyre.
